Pamphlets (NYC) Jeremy Marquez and Ben Griffin formed the project after connecting through friends and bonded over contemporaries such as Preoccupations, and Protomartyr and classics like The Fall, and Bloc Party. They honed a high-energy punk sound, notable for their infectious live performances. Their latest EP “Cause// Effect” ushered in a new phase for the band, leaning towards a heavier sound and sentimental lyricism. Their debut album "Somewhere in Zacatecas" out Jan 29th expands on this. With songs that attempt to speak about the chaos and anxiety of our current moment, Pamphlets position themselves as an unabashedly political call to action. This is an 18+ event. Born in the depths of a cellar in 2021, the quintet has no time for classifications: they forge a raw, visceral sound where industrial, noise and trip-hop collide, evoking Massive Attack, Sonic Youth and Dry Cleaning. Brought to European attention with their EP CRUSH, the band have built their reputation on stage, where their performances induce an irrepressible trance, constantly skirting the boundaries of chaos. Write night is a Nashville style, writers round event at Strongroom, packed full with the most exciting new talent in the London writing scene. Performers will play 2-3 songs each and share about their process. It’s a chance to get behind the bells and whistles and experience pure, striped back storytelling.
